Well, this is becoming the number 1 FAQ on this group. News groups
like "rec.climbing" are accessible by a local news group servers.
A certain number of days, weeks, etc. of data for each of some or all
of the 4500+ internet news groups is stored locally on these servers.
Check with your system administrator to see if you have a server
locally or have someway to access one. News groups are normally
accessed by a news reader which is different than a mail reader. News
groups such as rec.climbing get between 50 and 100 posting a day.
Some groups get only 1 or 2 a week while others get 200 to 300 a day.
