I don't know where you got your advice, but it sounds crazy to me. For a big trip like Logan you do need to take a reasonable kit, but pain killers every day? Nonsense unless you are a 4Kmasochist. Ibuprophen has recently been shown to be effective against the headache of AMS, but if you have that much AMS you should slow down, take a day off or even desecnd a bit. Logan does have a high incidence of altitude problems, partly because of its high LATITUDE. During our 12 years on the Logan high altitude study we took an ordinary pain killer, codeine, two antibiotics, anti-diarrheal, antibiotic ointment, steroid ointment (for piles) and dexamatheasone against HACE. A small supply of Diamox is a good idea, against AMS, but again, if you're getting sick, better stop and think a bit. I've evacuated many bad cases from Logan. Today I'd add nifedipine against HAPE . You can get a good medical kit from CHINOOK MEDICAL, 2805 Wilderness Place, Boulder 80301. Ask for Carl Darnell. You would be nuts to take painkillers every day. Of the medications listed, bad interactions are very rare and not to worry about. Have a great trip - it's a beautiful mountain charlie
