I'm back from the winter trip and all was well. The weather was s urprisingly mild which made everyone happy! We were up At Tuckerman's/Mt Washington. Our group worked on ice ax technique on Sat, enjoyed the 10 inches of snow sat night (!) and then went on an excellent day hike on sunday up Lion's heAd trail which leads to the summit of Mt Washington. Although we were not equiped to go to the summit nor were we intentding to try, we came within a mile of it. Up above timber line, the weather was really wild-although it was not colder than 25, the wind was kicking around 30-40 (i know, it gets a lot wo rse) and the mist at lower elevation was caking into ice all over us up above t ree line. When we finally came back down, we looked like snowmen! The whole group packed up and headed back early though because the snow meant that the avalanche danger in Tuckerman's was extreme and noone would be able to ski. Al l in all though, it was a super weekend! Thanks to everybody that sent me advi ce! Pat
