Subj: Re: ROCK CLIMBING IN NEW ENGLAND
Regarding rock climbing in New England: For starters:
There is a rock-climbing gym in Pawtucket, RI. Very nice folks and climbs
for just about all levels. Reasonably priced also.
There is another gym in Mass. Somerville?/Cambridge? I haven't been to it
myself.
For outdoor starters: lots of great bouldering at Lincoln Woods, just outside
of Providence. Also behind Chestnut Hill Mall on Route 9 in Mass. (Hammond
Pond, I believe.) Also Quincy Quarries--definitely with ropes. Also Ragged
Mountain in CT.
Finally, the Appalachian Mountain Club/RI division offers beginning and
continuing classes (3 weeks each) and then does climbs throughout the summer.
Enjoy.
