Subj: The environmental problems of Turkey: A survey and questionnaire

The following letter is offered both in English and in Turkce:

Dear Readers of Turkish electronic mail,

We would like your help in finding information about the environmental
problems of Turkey. What we are seeking is

I) What do you as scientists, teachers or students observe as
being the environmental problems of the present and future and

a) what are - or will be - the magnetude of these problems;
b) how fast - and in what way - are these problems changing;
c) what is the geography of the problems; and
d) what are the politics involved?

II) What data has been collecetd by whom and what has been
published (and in which journals and publications) within or
outside of Turkey?

III) What is the state of understanding, misunderstanding or education
of the environmental problems amoung the public, officials,
educators or other professionals across Turkey?

IV) What international recognician has been extended to Turkey, and
for what problems?

V) What environmental projects are being planned or executed

a) either just in Turkey or Internationally;
b) What is their source of funding and with what amount
- How effective is this amount of funding in Turkey; and
c) What are your opinions or knowlege of the obsticles to
these projects?

VI) What is industry doing?

a) Is industry a source of any of the equipment being used in
any of the projects?
b) Is industry capable of entering evironmental economics and
engineering?

VII) a) Has a "green party" been established in Turkey?
b) How active is it?
c) Is the movement likely to grow, and how quickly?

We wellcome any and all comments and help you readers can provide.
Feel free to distribute this questionaire to anyone who might not receive this
over electronic mail. Also, if you wish not to respond via email (or cannot) we
include below normal postal information.

Turkiye'nin cevre sorunlari hakkinda bilgi edinmede yardimlarinizi rica
ediyoruz. Istedigimiz bilgiler sunlar:

I) Bilimadami, ogretmen veya ogrenci olarak, gelecekteki ya da
gecmisteki hangi cevre sorunlarini gozluyorsunuz ve

a) Bu sorunlar suanda ne kadar buyuklukte ya da ileride ne kadar
buyuklukte olacak,
b) Bu sorunlar hangi hizda ve hangi yonde degisiyor,
c) Bu sorunlarin Turkiye'deki konumlari,
d) Guncel politikanin bu konuyla ne kadar ilgili oldugu?

II) Turkiye icinde veya disinda hangi veriler toplanmis ve
yayinlanmistir ve yayinlanmissa nerelerde yayinlanmistir?

III) Halk, memurlar, egitimciler veya diger meslek sahipleri arasinda
bu konu hakkindaki egitim, anlayis hangi duzeydedir?

IV) Uluslararasi duzeyde Turkiye'deki hangi sorunlar anlayis gormustur?

V) Hangi cevresel projeler planlamistir veya uygulanmaktadir:

a) Turkiye duzeyinde veya uluslararasi duzeyde,
b) Mali kaynaklari ve mali hacmi ne kadardir,
c) Sizin bu konu hakkindaki dusunceleriniz nelerdir?

VI) Bu konuda endustri neler yapmaktadir;

a) Turkiye'deki endusturi, bu gibi projelere hangi cihazlari
saglayabilmektedir,
b) Endusturi Cevre Muhendisligini hangi olcude kullanabilmektedir?

VII) a) Cevre konulariyla ilgili bir parti kurlmus mudur?
