Subj: Fall season on Shasta

I'm thinking of making a climb on Shasta, probably in mid-October, but
I don't know what the conditions are likely to be around then. I was
there a couple years back, but it was in August and there wasn't much
snow. The route I did then, and will probably do again, is pretty
much the standard, easy way up -- past the Sierra Club stone hut and
past Lake Helen.

Any ideas on what to expect? Is this too late in the season for
someone with mostly summertime experience?
