Note 44.173 MOUNT-L 173 of 517 CUPIDO::STRITAR "Andrej Stritar,IJS,(61)-371-321" 25 lines 18-AUG-1993 08:50 CUPIDO::STRITAR "Andrej Stritar,IJS,(61)-371-321" 25 lines 18-AUG-1993 08:50 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subj: re; novices Just when I thought the list was dead, a comment provoked a couple of replies that will keep me on the list. I am interested in rock climbing. At the age of 45 I have looked at the clock an d have decided that in the next few years I should do a few things. I, as a kid in the 1950s thought climbing the Devil's Tower would be "neat" and as an adult I still think so. Several local Alpine Club members have done it. Not it is time to get the skills. The only way is by practice. Tomorrow at the l ocal quarry, next week end back to the cliffs near Minaki, Ontario and more practice whenever I can. I am having a hard time with chimneys, but cracks are easier to do. Practice. Practice. Practice. Anyways, thanks to those who immediately sent words of encouragement to "the Novices". I appreciated them. Hopefully other novices did as well. Any suggestions for readings on rockclimbing in general? I understand there\ is a magazine/periodical called "CLIMBING". What is the subsription price & address? Thanks again. Ken Pisichko.
