In-Reply-To: Message of Sat, 19 Oct 91 20:06:28 EDT from Mark, Michigan is indeed fairly flat, but near Lansing there are some 40 ft soft sandstone bluffs (top roping or aid climbing only!). In addition, if you travel 10 hours north of where I am (I've never been there), you get to the Keewenau in the Upper Peninsula, which I'm told has some good climbing. There are also several good limestone crags along the Niagara Escarpment in Canada. Most of these crags are a 5 or 6 hour drive. My climbing area of choice is Seneca Rocks in West Virginia, which is a 8 or 9 hour drive, but well worth it. Other areas within 9 to 10 hours include: Devil's Lake in Wisconsin, Bon Echo in Ontario, Keene Valley and Poke-O-Moonshine in the Adirondacks, New River Gorge in West Virginia, and various crags in Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. A twelve hour drive will take you to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. So, if you're willing to spend some driving time, you can do quite well for yourself. Lon Mendelsohn
