Here are some preventative measures that I take. First of all I stretch very
well before climbing. Second I tape up, even my elbows. Third, I have seen some
people use neoprene support sleeves. And last, working out regularly with an
emphasis on toning and endurance can improve the strength of your tendons.
These are ways that work for me, there is probably better advice out there, so
good luck.
