I know you weren't too serious, and I take things too seriously, but I
just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth (mabey $2). Still, I say many
climbers are too critical of gear and not of themselves. Personally, I
know that I am the weakest link in my belay chain, how about you?

So, how many got the bad pun about the gear: "it's never let me down".
I also tell climbers that about my self belay device that I machined
myself. It's tests OK to 5000 lbs, but who knows it may break on me
someday and "it let me down, opps, game over!".
