Subject: ice-climbing

I'm looking for a pair of crampon-accepting boots that I can use for general
knocking around but also for mountaineering and ice-climbing. The local shop
here is completely clueless, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience w/boots
practical for this kind of use...without having to go whole-hog plastics. ACK!
