Note 44.97 MOUNT-L 97 of 517 CUPIDO::STRITAR "Andrej Stritar,IJS,(61)-371-321" 29 lines 29-APR-1992 07:39 CUPIDO::STRITAR "Andrej Stritar,IJS,(61)-371-321" 29 lines 29-APR-1992 07:39 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 28-Apr-1992 Posted-date: 28-Apr-1992 > We are thinking of exploring the south of Norway for about a week, > followed by a week in the Pyrenees, a week in the Calanques Marseillaises, > a few days around Annecy and finally around a week in the Valais (Switz.) > > I'd be very grateful for any advice on these subjects or indeed anything > else you think we should know. Are there any good books or guides you would > recommend? > For France - definitely get a Michelin Guide - its a long green paperback that costs about $14 and is worth its weight in gold - it gives a list of monuments and extensive history of the area (I think you want the Provence guide) - also includes tours and the time it takes to see each... it's also very light and compact. Also LET's GO France was pretty reliable... if you visit the white cliffs (calanques) make sure nothing is visible through your car window - people get ripped off often in the summer in that area... If you stay in Arles visit the Hotel Gaugin and say hi to Patrick for me - very cheap - very clean - and a great town for monuments, museums, and munching... Patrick speaks English. Sybil Brabner
